Multi-content training 2023
From November 2 to 4, 2023, 18 elected members of university locals gathered in Quebec City to take an active part in the 2023 edition of the Multi-content University Training. This initiative, supported by CQSU, brought together members of university unions, whether or not they belong to CQSU, with the aim of deepening their knowledge of collective agreements negotiation strategies, an essential element in defending the rights of university workers. Training highlights :
1. Exchange with PSAC advisors on negotiation strategies : The training offered a unique opportunity to interact and exchange with experienced PSAC (Public Service Alliance of Canada) advisors. These experts shared their expertise and advice on best practices in negotiations. Participants had the opportunity to learn directly from seasoned professionals, reinforcing their understanding of effective strategies.
2. Negotiation simulations : A practical aspect of the training included simulated negotiations on both the union and employer sides. Participants were immersed in realistic collective agreement negotiation scenarios. These simulations enabled union members to put into practice the skills they had learned, improve their negotiating techniques, and develop a concrete understanding of the potential challenges they might face in real-life situations.
The course benefited from the active support of two trainers, including CQSU coordinator Sébastien Paquette. Their expertise and commitment contributed to the quality and relevance of the training. In addition, PSAC’s translation and multimedia team played an essential role in facilitating exchanges, ensuring that the training was accessible and inclusive.
Thanks to everyone involved for their commitment and enriching contribution to the training! The diversity of experiences and perspectives created a dynamic and collaborative learning environment.
Multi-content training in academia represents a major support to the challenges faced by university unions, enabling them to gain in competence and independence. This training, a result of CQSU’s work within PSAC-Quebec, is a concrete example of CQSU’s commitment to providing essential resources to strengthen university unions. And it’s always CQSU member unions who propose the topics for future training!
Being part of CQSU means acting for the interests of university sector members.
