Local Section Council – February 13, 2024
For this first meeting of the year, the locals present were: STEP, ASTRE, and ASSEP.
We discussed payment arrangements with SEES-UQAR, following their exit from CQSU. The round-table discussion highlighted the negotiations underway at STEP for post-doctoral researchers, as well as the progress of the negotiating committee for lecturers at ASSEP.
The search for a venue for our next congress, to be held in summer 2024, was also advanced! Work on the website continued, and the entire site is now translated into English. The facebook page has been updated, and regular publications are planned for the coming month.
The workshop on mobilization, originally scheduled for this Council, was moved to a later date at the initiative of the members present, both to give more space to this crucial issue, and to invite non-member sections to participate.
Executive Office – January 9, 2024
At this first meeting of the year, the EO reported on the last Local Section Council (LSC) and proposed actions to be taken to best serve member locals. In particular, the EO will be contacting each local to see if it can offer strategic advice on mobilizing their members. With negotiations due to start in 2024 and 2025, member support will be all the more crucial!
We also discussed future LSCs, opting for a strategy of more regular and shorter meetings, particularly in anticipation of the PSAC convention, at which we hope to get a better representation of our members.
Finally, we discussed the next actions of the mobilization committee, and the criteria for a location for our next convention!
Local Section Council – December 20, 2023
The majority of CQSU’s member locals were present at this Council: STEP, ASTRE, SÉÉEU, and ASSEP. The EO shared his progress since its election, as well as its objectives for the year. ASTRE was particularly pleased with CQSU’s participation in its “Colore ta course” event, and all the local sections were very positive about the work already done by the mobilization committee, particularly on the website.
We discussed the negotiation for post-doctoral researchers that has begun at STEP, as well as mobilization issues in university locals.
We then went back over last November’s multi-content training, and discussed what we’d like to see in next year’s training.
Executive Office – December 8, 2023
The EO met to discuss preparations for the Local Section Council to be held on December 20, 2023, as well as the PSAC National Board of Directors budget meeting to be held in Ottawa.
We also gave feedback on our presence at the ASTRE event (“Colore ta course”) in October, and on the multi-content training. Both events were a success, and the training was an opportunity to make contact with university locals who are not members of CQSU. We hope they will join us in the future!
The work of the mobilization committee is underway, the site structure has been finalized and the French content is starting to fill out nicely!
Executive Office – September 22, 2023
At this meeting, Jeanne (Mobilization and Communications) presented the mobilization plan to which the mobilization committee had arrived. The committee has set itself several objectives: to create a CQSU website, to double the number of CQSU member locals by the next convention, and to strengthen the sense of belonging to CQSU among locals who are already members. Quite a program!
We discussed CQSU’s support action, through a stand at “Colore ta course”, the activity organized by member local ASTRE in Trois-Rivière. The organization of the multi-content training to be held in Quebec City in November is also well advanced.
Finally we discussed the resolutions that BE members’ locals plan to table for the 2024 PSAC National Convention, to share ahead of time the resolutions we’ll need to support each other on!
Executive Office – July 20, 2023
The outgoing and newly elected members of the Executive Office met for a handover session. With the exception of the unchanged coordinator (Sébastien Paquette, ASSEP), there was a lot of movement in the team with the elections at the convention!
Thanks to Vincent Gomez (Treasurer, STEP) et Lilyane Djoulde (Mobilization and Communications, STEP) for their involvement over the past year, and welcome to Olivia Elza Guiazong Noutseche (Treasurer, ASTRE), Jeanne Joachim (Mobilization and Communications, ASSEP) and Serigne Babacar Fall (Secretariat, STEP) for their first term on the CQSU!
